Call to Worship, Advent Litany Proclamation And Joy

Isaiah 9:6-7

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”

(LIGHT THE 1ST CANDLE, 2ND CANDLE AND THEN THE 3RD CANDLE)

On this 3rd Sunday of Advent as we think about the coming of Jesus, we light the candle of joy. When Christ comes into our lives, He brings the fullness of joy. He anoints our hearts with the oil of gladness. When Jesus was born, the angels said that His coming was good news of great joy for all people. Rejoice! Jesus is coming, and there will be peace at last!

Join with me as we say together,

Rejoice in the Lord always!

Again I say “rejoice!”

We come to worship

and rejoice the one who is with us.

Verse 1

I have found His grace is all complete
He supplieth ev'ry need
While I sit and learn at Jesus' feet
I am free yes free indeed

Chorus

It is joy unspeakable and full of glory
Full of glory full of glory
It is joy unspeakable and full of glory
Oh the half has never yet been told

I have found the pleasure I once craved
It is joy and peace within
What a wondrous blessing I am saved
From the awful gulf of sin

Verse 3

I have found that hope so bright and clear
Living in the realm of grace
Oh the Saviour's presence is so near
I can see His smiling face

Verse 4

I have found the joy no tongue can tell
How its waves of glory roll
It is like a great o'erflowing well
Springing up within my soul

Benediction

December Benevolence

The Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering (RMMO) originated in the mid-1930s, when American Baptist congregations received a Communion Fellowship Offering on the first Sunday of each month to support retired ministers, missionaries, their widowed spouses and elderly clergy within their churches. In 1977, American Baptist Churches USA launched RMMO to continue this appreciation of God’s service.

This years RMMO theme is “Transformed by Generosity” with supporting Scripture from 2 Corinthian 3:18: “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit”.
