Call to Worship, Advent Litany
Jeremiah 33:14-16
“The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. In those days and at the time I will make a righteous branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.”
(LIGHT THE 1ST CANDLE)
On this first Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of hope. Hope is our assurance that God will finish all He has started. Hope is our confidence that He will do all He has promised. All the promises of God are fulfilled in Jesus Christ our Lord. He is our hope, today and forever!
Join with me as we say together,
We wait upon the Lord
and place our hope in God’s Word.
Strengthened by the Spirit,
we awaken our souls
and watch for Christ’s coming.
Worship Song, #245 "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel"
VERSE 1
O come O come Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
CHORUS
Rejoice rejoice Emmanuel
Shall come to thee O Israel
VERSE 2
O come Thou Dayspring come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night
And death's dark shadows put to flight
VERSE 3
O come Thou Wisdom from on high
And order all things far and nigh
To us the path of knowledge show
And cause us in her ways to go
VERSE 4
O come Desire of nations bind
All peoples in one heart and mind
Bid envy strife and quarrels cease
Fill the whole world with heaven's peace

Worship Song, "Lord, I Need You"
Verse 1
Lord I come I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
And without You I fall apart
You're the one that guides my heart
Chorus 1
Lord I need You oh I need You
Ev'ry hour I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You
Verse 2
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
Where You are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
Bridge
So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus You're my hope and stay
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus You're my hope and stay
Chorus 2
Lord I need You oh I need You
Ev'ry hour I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
As this year’s collection week winds down, I want to thank everyone who contributes to our church’s involvement in this mission. Whether you brought shoeboxes, items to be included in the church’s shoeboxes, helped to pay for shipping, packed shoeboxes online, or, just as important, prayed for the shoeboxes and volunteers during these crazy times, thank you.
The shoeboxes will next proceed to the Processing Centers and then be packed into shipping cartons, ready for their trip around the world. Please pray for those involved in the logistics of delivering the shoeboxes and for those distributing them.
Pray for the children who will receive these gifts, that their hearts are open to the story of love. What happens next will depend on the Lord, but we know it will be something AMAZING!
May you have a blessed Thanksgiving.
Bread of Life Angel Tree
Once again, we are operating under the influence of Covid-19. We have a generic list of gifts that have been put together for each family based on children’s ages. This year we would like to offer you the following options when making your donations to the Angel Tree Wish List.
A wish list has only been created on Amazon if you prefer to do your own shopping. The name of the list is Epworth Angel Tree.
A monetary donation is also an option. Checks should be made payable to Epworth UMC. Please make a not on your check that the donation is for the Angel Tree.
We will be gathering information during the Food Pantry days. The gifts will be bagged and distributed on Saturday, December 18, 2021.
All donated items must be received by December 12, 2021.
As always, it is our goal to provide a wonderful Christmas experience for the families that may be struggling with the basics of life. If we share a little love and kindness, it ensures the light of Christmas will continue to shine brightly through darkness.
Moorestown Singers Holiday Concert
On Sunday Dec. 5th, we will need to clear off the pulpit area platform after the worship service in order to prepare for the Moorestown Singers Holiday Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 8th.
