Call to Worship—Lighting The Advent Wreath
On this 4th Sunday of Advent, as we think about the coming of Jesus, we light the candle of love. How great is the love the Father has lavished on us! God’s perfect love is shown to us through His Son by Jesus leaving His throne and coming to earth to die on the cross so that we can have eternal life. Jesus commands us to love one another as He has loved us. For it is as we show His love that we will be known as his disciples and others will know of God’s love for them.
Join with me as we say together,
God is love.
Whoever lives in love, lives in God
and God in them.
Lord, reveal your love,
and make us new.
Hymn of Praise - #128 "I Sing The Mighty Power of God"
Verse 1
I sing the mighty power of God
That made the mountains rise
That spread the flowing seas abroad
And built the lofty skies
I sing the wisdom that ordained
The sun to rule the day
The moon shines full at His command
And all the stars obey
Verse 2
I sing the goodness of the Lord
That filled the earth with food
He formed the creatures with His word
And then pronounced them good
Lord how Thy wonders are displayed
Where'er I turn my eye
If I survey the ground I tread
Or gaze upon the sky
Verse 3
There's not a plant or flower below
But makes Thy glories known
And clouds arise and tempests blow
By order from Thy throne
While all that borrows life from Thee
Is ever in Thy care
And everywhere that man can be
Thou God art present there

Hymn of Invitation -”Living in the Name of Love"
Verse 1
Let me lay down by the lamb,
Help me know who I am
Open up my mind like a child
Touch my heart touch my soul,
Precious Jesus make me whole
Let me live my life
Livin in the name of Love
Chorus
Livin in the name of Love,
Livin in the name of Love
I live my life with the help of the Lord above
Livin in the name of Love,
Livin in the name of Love
Praise God, livin’ in the name of Love
Verse 2
Give me the strength to carry on
Till the day that I’m called home,
To the everlasting land beyond the sun
Put Your word on my tongue, Lord
Let Your will be done
Let me live my life
Livin’ in the name of Love
Chorus 2
Livin in the name of Love,
Livin in the name of Love
I live my life with the help from the Lord above
Livin in the name of Love,
Livin in the name of Love
Praise God, I’m livin’ in the name of Love
Praise God, I’m livin’ in the name of Love

December Benevolence — ABC Retired Ministers/Missionaries Offering
The Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering (RMMO) originated in the mid-1930s, when American Baptist congregations received a Communion Fellowship Offering on the first Sunday of each month to support retired ministers, missionaries, their widowed spouses and elderly clergy within their churches. In 1977, American Baptist Churches USA launched RMMO to continue this appreciation of God’s service.
