Call to Worship - Psalm 119:33-40

Hymn of Praise: “Thy Word”

Chorus

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path

Verse 1

When I feel afraid
And I think I've lost my way
Still You're there right beside me
Nothing will I fear
As long as You are near
Please be near me to the end

Verse 2

I will not forget
Your love for me and yet
My heart forever is wandering
Jesus be my guide
And hold me to Your side
I will love You to the end

Hymn of Invitation: #293 “Praise The One Who Breaks The Darkness”

Verse 1

Praise the One who breaks the darkness
With a liberating light
Praise the One who frees the pris'ners
Turning blindness into sight
Praise the One who preached the gospel
Healing ev'ry dread disease
Calming storms and feeding thousands
With the very bread of peace

Verse 2

Praise the One who blessed the children
With a strong yet gentle word
Praise the One who drove out demons
With a piercing two-edged sword
Praise the One who brings cool water
To the desert's burning sand
From this well comes living water
Quenching thirst in ev'ry land

Verse 3

Praise the One true love incarnate
Christ who suffered in our place
Jesus died and rose for many
That we may know God by grace
Let us sing for joy and gladness
Seeing what our God has done
Praise the One redeeming glory
Praise the One who makes us one

Benediction

February Benevolence - World Vision

turkey/syria earthquake relief

On Feb. 6, 2023 a 7.8 magnitude earthquake and a series of strong tremors and aftershocks devastated southeast Turkey and northwest Syria. The death toll has surpassed 35,000 and continues to rise. Tens of thousands are injured and hundreds of thousands have been displaced in a region beset by a nearly 12-year conflict and the ongoing refugee crisis.

  • In Turkey, 13 million of the country’s 85 million citizens are impacted. The president declared a 3 month state of emergency in the affected area.

  • Even before the quake, 6.5 million children in Syria were in need of humanitarian aid due to the ongoing conflict.

  • According the other World Health Organization 23 million people are likely to be affected.

World Vision is assisting by providing life-saving support with access to temporary shelters, heaters, clean water, non-food items, and critically needed healthcare. They are also providing care for vulnerable children separated from their families amid the turnmoil.

How can I help?

  • Pray - Join World Vision in praying for survivors, people who have lost loved ones and homes, and for World Vision Staff and responders as they continue to support families during the disaster.

  • Make a donation to donate.worldvision.org. Your donations can provide healthcare, emergency shelter, heat, clean safe water and other necessities during this disaster.

New Sunday School Class/Bible Study

Starting on the first Sunday of Lent, Feb. 26th at 10:30, in person, we will be starting a new Bible Study/Discussion to look at God’s revelation of who He is through his various names. This 13 week study of the Old Testament names of God begins with the first name in which God makes Himself know, Elohim. The other names are studied in order as God progressively reveals Himself through His names. It will be a wonderful journey of learning who God really is. If you are interested, please email the church office @ office@centralbaptistpalmyra.org so we can get a count and also order you a book. Please specify if you would like and English Standard Version book or King James Version. There is no charge for the books.
