Call to Worship
We will bless the Lord at all times,
God's praise is always on our lips;
in the Lord our souls shall make their boast.
The humble shall hear and be glad.
Glorify the Lord with us.
Together let us praise God's name.
We sought the Lord and were heard,
from all our terrors set free.
Look toward God and be radiant;
let your faces not be ashamed.
When the poor cry out,
the Lord hears them
and rescues them from all their distress.
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
They are happy who seek refuge in God.
—based on Psalm 34:1-8

Worship Song, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”
Verse 1
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
O what peace we often forfeit
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer
Verse 2
Have we trials and temptations
Is there trouble anywhere
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Verse 3
Are we weak and heavy laden
Cumbered with a load of care
Precious Savior still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Do thy friends despise forsake thee
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In His arms He'll take and shield thee
Thou wilt find a solace there

Benediction
June Benevolence - One Great Hour Of Sharing
Our mission focus for June is the American Baptist Church One Great Hour of Sharing. Funds collected this year will be used to provide COVID relief in the US and Puerto Rico and internationally in the communities served by International Ministries.
The New Life Center foundation in Thailand where Kit Ripley serves is highlighted in this year’s promotional materials. For over 30 years the NLCF has invested in the lives of over 1000 ethnic minority girls at risk of trafficking, forced labor, and sexual abuse.
“Specifically, donations to ABHMS’ OGHS appeal will assist with immediate needs, such as unemployment or loss of income, housing, hunger and access to healthcare. Donations will also fund programs supporting the well-being and mental health of faith leaders, congregations and communities. In the current context of social distancing, as churches seek to connect with members through online connections, the need for enhanced technology has emerged in many churches. ABHMS also seeks to support American Baptist regions, denominationally related colleges, universities and seminaries along with community ministries (Neighborhood Action Programs and other service organizations) that are serving families in marginalized settings. There are also emerging needs that are not known presently.
Children’s Book Drive
Central is joining with some other local churches to collect new and/or gently used children’s books, ages infant to grade six, to donated to BookSmile.org. This organization supports under-served communities in New Jersey, helping children build up their personal libraries and encouraging strong literacy.
Books will be collected beginning June 21, and collection will continue through the month of July. There are several drop off points:
Central Baptist Church (outside the ramp door behind the building)
Bethany Lutheran Church
