Call to Worship:

Almighty God, we pray for your blessing on the church in this place.
Here may the faithful find salvation,
and the careless be awakened.

Here may the doubting find faith, and the anxious be encouraged. Here may the tempted find help, and the sorrowful find comfort. Here may the weary find rest, and the strong be renewed.

Here may the aged find consolation and the young be inspired;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Hymn, “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”

Verse 1

Come Thou fount of ev'ry blessing

Tune my heart to sing Thy grace

Streams of mercy never ceasing

Call for songs of loudest praise

Teach me some melodious sonnet

Sung by flaming tongues above

Praise His name I'm fixed upon it

Name of God’s redeeming love

Verse 2

Hitherto Thy love has blest me;

Thou hast bro’t me to this place;

And I know Thy hand will bring me

Safely home by Thy good grace.

Jesus sought me when a stranger

Wand'ring from the fold of God

He to rescue me from danger

Bo’t me with His precious blood.

Verse 3

O to grace how great a debtor

Daily I'm constrained to be

Let Thy grace Lord like a fetter

Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee

Prone to wander Lord I feel it

Prone to leave the God I love

Here's my heart Lord take and seal it

Seal it for Thy courts above.

Opening Prayer

Passing the Peace (Internet Edition)

OT Reading: Proverbs 1:1-7

Prayer Time

Gospel Reading: Matthew 7:24-27

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Meditation, “The Very Start”

Hymn, “Glorious Day”

Verse 1

One day when heaven was filled with His praises
One day when sin was as black as could be
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin
Dwelt among men my example is He
The Word became flesh
And the light shined among us
His glory revealed

Chorus

Living He loved me dying He saved me
Buried He carried my sins far away
Rising He justified freely forever
One day He's coming
O glorious day (glorious day)

Verse 2

One day they led Him up Calv'ry's mountain
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish despised and rejected
Bearing our sins my Redeemer is He
The hand that healed nations
Stretched out on a tree
And took the nails for me

Verse 3

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose over death He had conquered
Now is ascended my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him
The grave could not keep Him
From rising again

Bridge

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming
One day the skies with His glories will shine
Wonderful day my beloved one bringing
My Savior Jesus is mine

Ending

O glorious day glorious day
O glorious day

Benediction

January Benevolence - International Rescue Committee

“Each year, millions of people, particularly women and children, die from preventable causes in countries affected by violent conflict and natural disasters. Most of these deaths are the result of disruptions related to crisis: poor sanitation, shortages of food and medicine, and inadequate prevention. Refugees resettled in the United States also can face difficulties accessing proper health care.”

“The International Rescue Committee helps those who are experiencing or recovering from conflict and disaster reduce their risk of falling ill and receive treatment when they do get sick.”

IRC works to:

  • Ensure that children are treated for and protected from the leading causes of death

  • Ensure that people receive the wide-ranging support they need

  • Ensure that women and girls have access to reproductive health services

  • Ensure that people are emotionally and mentally healthy

  • Ensure that people have access to clean water and sanitation

  • Ensure that people are well-served by health institutions
