Call to Worship

Hear us, Shepherd of Israel,
you who lead Joseph like a flock.

You who sit enthroned between the cherubim,
shine forth before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.

Awaken your might;
come and save us. Restore us, O God;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.

How long, Lord God Almighty,
will your anger smolder
against the prayers of your people?

You have fed them with the bread of tears;
you have made them drink tears by the bowlful.

You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors,
and our enemies mock us.

Restore us, God Almighty;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.

Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand,
the son of man you have raised up for yourself.

Then we will not turn away from you;
revive us, and we will call on your name.

Restore us, Lord God Almighty;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.

Psalm 80:1-7,17-19 NIV11

Hymn, “Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus”

Verse 1

Come Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free
From our fears and sins release us
Let us find our rest in Thee
Israel's strength and consolation
Hope of all the earth Thou art
Dear desire of every nation
Joy of every longing heart

Verse 2

Born Thy people to deliver
Born a child and yet a King
Born to reign in us forever
Now Thy gracious Kingdom bring
By Thine own eternal Spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone
By Thine all sufficient merit
Raise us to Thy glorious throne

Worship Song, “Sometimes By Step”

Verse 1

Sometimes the night is beautiful
Sometimes the sky was so far away
Sometimes it seemed to stoop
So close you could touch it
But your heart would break

Sometimes the morning
 came too soon
Sometimes the day
could be so hard
There was so much work left to do
But so much you'd already done

Chorus

Oh God You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God You are my God
And I will ever praise You
And I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days

Verse 2

Sometimes I think of Abraham
How one star he saw had been lit for me (him)
He was a stranger in this land
And I am that no less than he

And on this (the) road to righteousness
Sometimes the climb can be so steep
I may falter in my steps
And never beyond Your reach

Ending

And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days

Benediction

November Benevolence - Operation Christmas Child/Food Pantry

The mission focus for November is Operation Christmas Child/Bread of Life Food Pantry.

Operation Christmas Child

We collected 321 shoeboxes here at Central during National Collection Week for OCC. 30 of the shoeboxes are from our collection of items from this past year. We even had some left-over items that were shared with Epworth as filler items for their Angel Tree.

Our region, which includes Burlington and Ocean Counties, unofficially collected 11,293 shoeboxes this crazy, unprecedented week. Think of all the gospel opportunities these simple gifts will provide to children, their families and beyond. God is so awesome!

Thank you for your support to our small part of the eternal mission.

Sandi

Angel Tree 2020

This year the Angel Tree will be handled differently than in years past due to COVID-19. Rather than having angels with specific gifts, the pantry is asking for monetary donations that will be used to purchase gifts. Checks can be made out to “Epworth UMC” with “Angel Tree” on the memo line.

The pantry is collecting small gifts that could be used as stocking stuffers. There is a collection basket inside the church and on the porch of 205 Lippincott Ave. These can also be dropped off at Epworth United Methodist Church during business hours.

Simplest of all, purchase a gift from their Amazon Wishlist. The gifts will be shipped directly to Epworth UMC,

Secret Place - Winter edition

Secret Place daily devotionals for December-February are now available inside the church. If you would like to have the devotional delivered, please contact the church office and specify “large print” or “standard”.

Wellness Hour

Drop in for a time of connection, prayer, and an occasional devotion. Mitigation guidance will be in effect and masks are required. Stay for the hour, or just pop in for a moment to be reminded of our incarnational connection with each other.
