Call to Worship

God invites us into his healing presence with these words: “I am the Lord, who heals you.”
Diseased, depressed, dysfunctional, defeated,
we come hungering for health that only God can provide.
God calls us to bring open eyes, hearing ears,
and tender hearts turned toward him, the Great Physician.
We bow before him in faith and expectancy!
—based on Exodus 15:26; Isaiah 6:10

Hymn, “Come, Thou, Almighty King“

Verse 1

Come Thou Almighty King
Help us Thy name to sing
Help us to praise
Father all glorious
O'er all victorious
Come and reign over us
Ancient of Days

Verse 2

Come Thou Incarnate Word
Gird on Thy mighty sword
Our prayer attend
Come and Thy people bless
And give Thy Word success
Spirit of holiness
On us descend

Verse 3

Come Holy Comforter
Thy sacred witness bear
In this glad hour
Thou who almighty art
Now rule in ev'ry heart
And ne'er from us depart
Spirit of pow'r

Verse 4

To Thee great One in Three
Eternal praises be
Hence evermore
Thy sov'reign majesty
May we in glory see
And to eternity
Love and adore

November Benevolence - Operation Christmas Child/Food Pantry

The mission focus for November is Operation Christmas Child/Bread of Life Food Pantry.

Operation Christmas Child

One Sunday morning in 2000, Pastor Durn asked for a volunteer to attend a meeting concerning a new mission. So was the start of Central’s involvement with Operation Christmas Child.
Now, we enter our 21st year as a Drop-Off Center for OCC. But this year will be quite different from the others. No more inviting participants into the church building for refreshments but, instead, meeting people in their vehicles clad in masks, gloves, and shields.
The outward appearance will be different, but the message is the same: someone cares and God loves us. You are packing a shoebox gift for a child who has no hidden agenda, no political inclinations, just a need to know Jesus.
There are several ways for you to help in our part of the ministry:

  1. Build your own shoe box(es)
    (a) If you would like a reminder of what to pack, check out What to pack
    (b) If you would rather not go out to stores, did you know you can build a shoebox online for $25? Besides essential items, like hygiene and school supplies, you get to choose toys, games, and other items to go into your shoebox. And the $9 shipping fee is included in that price. Here is the link.

  2. Adopt the shipping price for one or more of the church’s shoeboxes. Thank you to all who have brought supplies to the church throughout the year for the OCC shoeboxes. It’s planned for the church to fill 30 boxes, 10 for each age level. You can help further by donating the shipping price of $9 per box.

  3. Volunteer to receive shoeboxes at the church. If you can help, it would be appreciated. This is the schedule of times the church will receive shoeboxes:

    1. Mon, Nov. 16: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

    2. Tue, Nov. 17: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

    3. Wed, Nov. 18: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

    4. Thu, Nov. 19: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

    5. Fri, Nov. 20: 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM (youth group)

    6. Sat, Nov. 21: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

    7. Sun, Nov. 22: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

    8. Mon, Nov. 23: 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM

  4. Pray for, among other concerns, the collection of the shoeboxes and the safety of the volunteers involved.

Food Pantry Thanksgiving Collection

Bread of Life Food Pantry is collecting turkeys and additional food to provide holiday meals for their clients on pantry day, November 21. Please see flyer for more details.

Food can be dropped off at the church during worship or anytime on the front porch at 205 Lippincott Ave, Riverton.

Wellness Hour

Drop in for a time of connection, prayer, and an occasional devotion. Mitigation guidance will be in effect and masks are required. Stay for the hour, or just pop in for a moment to be reminded of our incarnational connection with each other.

The next gathering will be Saturday, November 21, 2020, from 11:00 AM to Noon. More dates can be found on Central Baptist’s web page.
