Call to Worship

Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors,

that the King of glory may come in.

Who is this King of glory?

The LORD strong and mighty,

the LORD mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

Who is he, this King of glory?

The LORD Almighty— he is the King of glory.

—Psalm 24:7-10, NIV

Hymn, “Ye Servants of God“

Verse 1

You servants of God your master proclaim
And publish abroad his wonderful name
The name all victorious of Jesus extol
His kingdom is glorious and rules over all

Verse 2

God rules in the height almighty to save -
Though hid from our sight his presence we have
The great congregation his triumph shall sing
Ascribing salvation to Jesus our king

Verse 3

'Salvation to God who sits on the throne '
Let all cry aloud and honour the Son
The praises of Jesus the angels proclaim
Fall down on their faces and worship the Lamb

Verse 4

Then let us adore and give him his right
All glory and power all wisdom and might
All honour and blessing - with angels above -
And thanks never ceasing and infinite love

Benediction

September Benevolence - Eastern University

Our mission focus for September is Eastern University. Many in our church community have a direct connection to the university and we have been blessed in the past with participation of students and faculty in our worship services. Your donation helps to keep tuition costs low and provide services for the students.

While COVID-19 spikes at universities are making the headlines, Eastern University has been able to open its campus for undergraduates with a mix of in person and online learning.  Health and safety restrictions are in place along with testing, screening, and contact tracing protocols.  This has allowed the university to keep the number of positive cases low (.37% positive test rate; 3 total cases).

Eastern University has been able to adapt to pandemic conditions while remaining a high quality educational institution. "Eastern University has once again been ranked one of the Best Regional Universities in the North by U.S. News and World Report for 2021, as well as one of the Best Value Schools and one of the Top Performers on Social Mobility."

Wellness Hour

The last few months have hit the spiritual lives of many people rather hard. The loss of rhythm, physical presence of the community, and general familiarity have taken their toll. This is why Larry Merrill came up with the idea for “Wellness Hour.” We need to be with other people.

Drop in for a time of connection, prayer, and an occasional devotion. Mitigation guidance will be in effect and masks are required. Stay for the hour, or just pop in for a moment to be reminded of our incarnational connection with each other.

The first gathering will be Wednesday, September 30, 2020, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. More dates can be found on Central Baptist’s web page.

The Story

Beginning September 27, join Amanda for a Sunday School class which will lead participants on a 31 week journey to read the entire Bible. This class will use The Story: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People.
