Call to Worship - Psalm 72:1-5, NRSV

Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to a king’s son. May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice. May the mountains yield prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness. May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the needy, and crush the oppressor. May he live while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.

January Benevolence: Mission to Chinese Seamen

“The ocean depths raise their voice, O LORD; they raise their voice and roar. The LORD rules supreme in heaven, greater than the roar of the ocean, more powerful than the waves of the sea.” (Psalm 93:3-4)

The Mission to Chinese Seamen reaches out to seafarers from many nations right here at the port of Philadelphia. Merchant Seamen typically spend ten months or more each year on board ship and only two months in their home country with family and friends.  The life of a seafarer is often lonely, monotonous and many times dangerous.  Seamen are truly a forgotten people group because they are an international population constantly on the move.

A Message from the Allen Family - The Allen Family extends their deepest thanks and gratitude for both the church's generous Christmas gift and all the support they feel throughout the year. May Jesus continue to do great things through Central in 2016!

Annual Meeting and Pot-Luck Luncheon - Join the Central Baptist family following worship on January 31 for our Annual Meeting and pot-luck lunch! We’ll reflect on the year which has passed, and look forward toward the year to come. Jesus is doing come incredible things in our midst, come and celebrate! As always, we invite our family to bring a main dish, side, or dessert. A sign up sheet will be up in the Church beginning this Sunday.
