December Benevolence: Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering (RMMO) – The RMMO provides a tangible way for American Baptist congregations to say “Thank you for …” the commitment, service and spiritual guidance of retired ministers, missionaries and their widowed spouses. The offering supports those who have devoted their lives to God’s service by providing emergency assistance in their times of need and, for those eligible, a “Thank You” check at the end of each year. In 2012, RMMO provided Thank You checks to more than 3,300 recipients. Recipients of emergency financial assistance and the Thank You checks provided by RMMO consistently express their thanks for your generosity. Read some of their Stories of Thanks at the RMMO website: http://www.abc-usa.org/rmmo/
See the Lights! Mark your calendars and set aside Thursday, Dec.12th to enjoy driving around the local area and looking at all the Christmas Lights with the residents of Riverview Estates. We will meet at the Home by 6:00pm, load everyone into cars and on the bus, drive around the area to check out all the beautiful lights and then come back to enjoy some more fellowship time eating cookies and drinking hot cocoa. A sign-up sheet is in Memorial Hall for: 1) willing to drive; 2) wanting to come to enjoy the lights and/or 3) bring cookies. Be on the look-out for some wonderful lights in our area and let Karen know where to find them so they will be included on the tour.
